Country of the (Almost Every Other) Week: Turkey

Posted by admin on May 22 2008

After a brief little break, the Country of the Week is back, and this time it is a country in the Middle East, Turkey. Again, for those of you who are geographically challenged, Turkey is on the Mediterranean Sea to the east (right) of Italy (the boot) and Greece. And in talking to some of the people I know over there, I found out some interesting things about the country and how we can pray for them. Check it out!

About Turkey: Did you know?

  • There is a city in Turkey, Istanbul, which spans two continents. It is the only city like this in the world. If you were to live there, it would be possible to have a house in Europe and then go to school in Asia every single day!
  • There are more people at Parkside on a Sunday than there are Christians in all of Turkey!

How can we pray?

  • Pray for missionaries there, that they and their children would be able to develop good friendships with the people in Turkey. Once this happens, you can pray that the Turks would see a difference in the lives of the missionaries, and that this would open the door for them to have a discussion about Jesus.
  • Pray for the Turks who are Christians, as it is hard and dangerous to be a Christian there. Pray that they would stay strong and share their faith.
