Just a quick reminder that Club JV will be on the road this Tuesday at Solon Park, from 7-9pm. We’ll be eating hot-dogs and hamburgers, playing in the volleyball pits, and doing whatever else we can think of… so, don’t go to the Warehouse and miss the fun! Bring your friends, $5 to help pay for food, and meet us there! Don’t know where Solon Park is? Check out this map.

Ever wonder what Frank’s most embarrassing moment was? Or what Lindzey G. was almost named by her parents? Or what movie made Chris cry? Well, you can find out the answers to these questions and more in a new section of the website: the leader page.
Rather than give you a link to the page, though, I thought I’d turn it into a contest…so the first three people to find the leader page and prove it by e-mailing me (dsoutham@parksidechurch.com) the text of Olivia’s favorite verse win a prize!
Explanation: if Olivia’s favorite verse were John 3:16, you would have to e-mail me “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. Make sense? Better stop reading this and get going!

I don’t know if you guys noticed it (or if you sleep like rocks), but a thunderstorm rolled through last night, bringing some much-appreciated lower temperatures today. Anyways, as I was trying to sleep early this morning, I was awoken by this huge lightning bolt that seemed to hit about 50 yards away from my window. It was super bright and the thunder that came with it shook the window a little bit…I honestly thought that a tree was going to fall or catch on fire or something, but it never happened. Has lightning ever hit that close to you?
As I was thinking about the lightning bolt this morning, I was reminded of Job 38, where God is talking to this dude Job (funny name, I know), asking him a bunch of questions, and says, “Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?” God’s question to Job points out the difference between human beings and Himself, as He reminds us that He can do things that none of us can, including sending out lightning bolts! I mean, that’s pretty amazing isn’t it? To be able to tell lightning bolts where to go? Who else can do that but God? If you want to read a really cool section of the Bible that will kind of put you in your place, check out Job 38-41, where God lists all these things that He alone can do. It’s one of my favorite passages. And next time you see a lightning bolt, think about who sent it!
